Chakra #7- The Sahasrara Chakra.
In English this is the "thousand-petaled" center and/or The Crown Chakra. "Thousand petals" refers to the thousands upon thousands of brain cells contained in the cerebrum which this chakra relates to. The gland this crown is connected to is the pineal, a gland that holds a lot of mystery. It has been said that when we raise the Kundalini (Primal Life Force) to the point where it contacts the pineal, it causes a shock wave vibration in the nervous system that awakens the pineal gland. This awakening bestows siddhis (magic abilities or psychic powers) ,revitalizing the dormant sensory facilities within us that have atrophied from disuse.
In our past, just as Australian aboriginals of today, we could track animals by sense of smell, or water in desert areas. Generally speaking we have lost our acute sensitivity to the environment and an awakened pineal enlivens these and other magic abilities. When one is a "born psychic" it is because the pineal gland is active and awake. This may have something to do with the conscious energy state of the soul. I have often heard the term "Old Soul" for such souls which seems to put a time scale on the soul. Since the soul is an infinite state of conscious energy and is from The One Greater Self, this is an error in assumption. A soul who has made many manifestations is maybe more accurate. As Physicists, we know that and entity is a "point in time". This can be called a "place in time" and each one of us Souls builds an entity out of time-space, for placement of sensual self-awareness. So each of us is on our own time scale for place in time creation. Some souls seem to be more determined than others, to find the limits of self-expression or have a more rapid time scale than others. Old Soul is not a value statement but rather a statement of determination. Each of us is our own movement and repose and by balancing these, we reach our own creative bliss.
The opening of the Crown chakra often comes from the disciplined determination of pranayama (breathing meditations) and/or yoga meditations. Or even a sudden shock to the cerebrum that has been known to happen by head traumas. I don't recommend the head trauma procedure. Not only is it a "ify" proposition, it has bad side effects, where as yoga meditations do not. The beauty of controlled meditations is that they develope the personality alongside the energy flow so that development is less severe.
