Daily Thoth Deck Tarot Card Brief: Queen of Cups

QUEEN OF CUPS

To an Astrologer,She rules from 21 degrees Gemini to 20 degrees Cancer.
To a Qabalist, She is Water of Water, i.e. Specific Water in the World of Primal Water.
If you'll notice, there is a Crayfish in her cup and she has her right hand with lotus on an Ibis,  The Crayfish relates to the Moon and one of the characteristics of this card is that  its flow changes to the influences around it. The Ibis is in the Egyptian tradition, a bird associated with Thoth-Hermes who has an aspect of being The Moon God. The lotus in her right hand is a flower sacred to Isis. These waters on which the lotus float are a means of transmission of Forces (emotions).
The Divinatory meaning of this card, represents a mature woman with a deep sexual and fertility powers which can manifest as motherhood or giving birth to a creative line of work. In whatever she is doing she is deeply, emotionally, committed.
Everything in her life is about  nourishment, sexual exchange, giving and receiving with deep passionate feeling.
In a more esoteric vein, The Queen of Cups is the Emotional Reflector (notice the reflection on the water of this card). People find it easy to discuss or express feelings honestly and responsibly around the Querent, with out fear of blame or judgment. However, the Querent has probably been blamed for too much imagination which one easily does with this much water (subconscious mental influence) allowing easy creation of fantasies but lacks the motivation to fulfill them. The shimmering, beautiful , and tranquil aspects of the Queen of Cups, reflects well on the Querent whose maternal love and stable support make her very popular with others. The only ill defined aspect of this card is that fantasy becomes more popular in her mind than reality----making it difficult for her to deal with "real world" problems.  She is also mainly unseen, as she reflects the feeling, emotion and image of the one examining her.  This card is usually well defined, especially if other Cup  or Wand cards are around her. She mixes well with Sun-light.

Hi Eli! What do you mean by "She mixes well with Sun-light" at the end of your write up of this card? I pulled three cards today asking about what was going on inside of myself since everything feels like a whole big jumble - I pulled out the Four of Wands; Ten of Disks and the Queen of Cups. At first glance, nothing made sense since I don't feel all nice, stable and prosperous...nor do I feel like I have achieved completion on anything at the moment (in fact, I feel quite the opposite!)...but later on I realized that the Four of Wands and the Ten of Disks have reference to the Sun...I couldn't find that reference in the Queen of Cups until I saw your post here.

Hi Nev! She is specific water,i.e. Personal Consciousness, The Sun is Ratiocination or Bright Intelligence. Fire and Water mix to make Air, which is Mind. Therefore, she mixes well with Sunlight.Just like Sunlight and Ocean mix well to make life possible. Completion and the 10 of Disks Wealth of communication (Mercury), when combined with the Queen, state that you are in an emotional and complete communication with your rational self, and that an emotional issue has been completed or has reached its completion. Its done. You are now on the way to something new, remember the water around the Queen is the means of Transmitting force, and Mercury is the messenger of Force communication. So new emotional realizations should be arriving soon. Thank you for your interest and comments. May you live long and prosper. Reply to comment
