Thoth Deck Tarot: 7 of CUPS-DEBAUCH

The Thoth Deck Seven of Cups is is in reference to number 7-Netzach (victory) in the suit of Water and is governed in the zodiac by Venus in Scorpio. Venus is ill dignified in Scorpio and one is reminded that Venus is the planet of Copper which is noted for its "external splendor and internal corruption". There is a invariable weakness here, arising from lack of balance.
As illustrated in this card, the lotuses are corrupted and look to be dripping a oozing slime (instead of water), which overflows into a malarious morass of a  sea. The cups are iridescent and are carrying out the same idea of corruption.
We know the Six of Cups to Be Pleasure and can say that the 7 of Cups -Debauch is almost the "evil and averse" image of the Six. As A. Crowley put it," it is a wholesome reminder of the fatal ease with which a Sacrament may be profaned and prostituted." It is suggested by this card, that when one loses touch with Kether (Crown on the Tree of Life) The Highest Serphiroth,; diverging ever so slightly from the delicate balance of the Middle Pillar (see past blogs); at once the holiest mysteries of Nature become the obscene and shameful secrets of a guilty conscience. Direction in life is all about perspective, perceiving ones self a victim is to see only the muck and mire of stagnant emotions.
When this card is thrown during a reading, the Querent has or will experience for the next 7 weeks or 7monts;Lying, deceit, promises unfulfilled. illusion, and deception. Either by self denial or by others. There may be slight success but there is not enough energy to maintain it so error develops. Possible victory, but that is neutralized by the  supineness of  the person.
Drunkenness, , wrath, vanity, lust, fornication for the sake of ego, violence against women. Selfish dissipation. Deception in love and friendship. Some success gained, but not followed up on.  All of which is modified by the dignity of the Card as determined by the accompanying cards.
The Seven of Cups is a card of squalid emotions and as a putrefying pool of water that has no fresh water input, the emotional self without fresh input of  expansive self perspectives grows putrid and stagnant. To seek only comfort, because we fear pain, emotionally, mentally and physically, makes us a unmoving swamp of negative emotions,i.e. an obscene sacrament. The lack of courage to act, destroys our motion... and life is movement.  The Tree of Life is Us--the Divine Child, in our most dynamic state of Movement and we are a Sacrament unto Goddess/God. This card suggest that we must take steps to free our emotional self from its prison of fear. By taking one step and following that step with another, we shall begin to move into the present and leave behind the past.
Thank you for your interest and comments. May you live long and prosper!

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. However think about if you added some great visuals or video clips to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this blog could undeniably be one of the very best in its field. Great blog!

Somehow, I don't think you are commenting on my blog....it has pics that are relevant to the cards that I describe. Videos take too long for a daily, sit down and pound it out blog. How are you getting on my 'comment' tag? If you are commenting about my blog, thank you for your great suggestions and comments. May you live long and prosper!

This card had come up as a "secret revealed" or clarifying card in a reading I had just finished. It was meant to be a big picture, a simple Past, Present and Future, 3 card spread, but something told me to pick another card that being Debauch. To clarify, the Past card came to be Adjustment, (which was earlier picked a the Secret of the High Priestess in a reading before this) the present came up as Futility and the future came up as strength. While I've been studying and reading up on all of this through many sources, one of the main references being your blog (it's absolutely insightful and wonderful by the way!) I was wondering if you had time you could help me see something I'm missing or give me any insight or hints? Thank you, and blessed be!

Hi JTR. When a reading is presented to the Unconscious, it responds only to the pattern of that reading. By doing the 3 card spread and then "thinking" a need to clarify, you basically asked two questions. This confuses the reading. The first cards, Past=Adjustment, Present=Futility and Future=Strength, tells a story of the Soul adjusting your personality, because using the personality to correct itself is "Futility", by knowing this and experiencing the severity of Adjustment, Strength in mind is built. Debauch showing up, means you "over indulged" in your question. You must stick to the pattern once you decide on which one you are to use. I would suggest a different question and a different card reading for any doubts about the first one. I hope this helped, may you live long and prosper!
