Thoth Deck Tarot: NINE OF SWORDS-CRUELTY

As stated before, the number nine brings back the Energy of a Suit to the middle pillar in the area of Yesod-The Foundation.
So the balance to the Suit of Air---Swords- would seem to be restored  and the previous disorder rectified. However, the Suit of Swords itself has been following the 2nd law of Thermodynamics [...All things proceed from order to disorder.] and the general idea of the suit has constantly degenerated. Instead of Pure Intellect, the Nine of Swords represents the automatic stirring of heartless passions that belong to the Survival Mind of the Lizard brain. This is the world of the unconscious primitive instincts, of the psychopath, of the fanatic and zealotry. Mars rules Gemini celestially here, producing a crude raging hunger that has no restraint....a greed of the eternally fearful This seems odd, since the temperament of Swords is intellectual. but as A. Crowley states in his Book of Thoth...." it is the temper of the inquisitor.".  Deeply buried in our subconscious is the Tyrant who degrades us, criticizes our Personality's actions if we dare leave the boundaries of our "Slave training" , i.e. indoctrination. This Tyrant lies awake awaiting our very attempt at expanding our perspective with whips of "emotional" fear unfolded and ready to strike! This Inquisitor is the result of "pleasure-Pain training" which is commonly called Pavlovian conditioning. Named after a Dr. Pavlov who tortured dogs into compliance. Needless to say this is not a healthy mental state for the individual--- but to those in Authority ( A Ruler --Means, "Those who control definition") having you whip yourself into compliance when ever you are tempted to defy your definition of "Subject"... is most comforting indeed.
The Thoth Deck 9 of Swords shows nine swords of varying lengths,  all jagged and rusty and all striking downwards with points dripping poisoned blood. The very imagery of this card causes one to shudder in resignation. However, there is a way of dealing with this card: the way of passive resistance is most positive; least positive ways to resist are resignation, and martyrdom. Some may even seek implacable revenge by causing great pain to "others"; "Others" being the enemy's common name, but this is self destructive. The Survival Mind must always have an enemy to keep its Authority of Fear over the Personality. Which is silly, because the Soul is both Life and Death of the body----and the body will never survive the Soul! To say, " I AM the Soul who is the Life and Death of this body and I Am the Creator of Free-doom [Anglo Saxon word from which freedom was derived and means" I choose my own death"] , I Am the Alpha and the Omega of my own Life Form"; is stating the original god Given authority you have over the body.. This is a statement of an inner knowledge that comes from knowing Thyself. This Knowledge of Free-doom, lays the Pavlovian-Tyrant to rest, and reestablishes the Soul's Authority over the body. The Fear of Pain, fades away and the Joy of the Moment is firmly established as a life journey.
When the 9 of Swords is thrown during a reading, it implies illness, suffering, malice.and cruelty (mostly self-cruelty brought on by self defeating thoughts). There is Pain, despair and pitilessness, malice, want, lose, misery and oppressive burden. Oppressive labor ( slavery), and a certain amount of subtlety and craft displayed in lying, dishonesty, etc., all according to the dignity of the accompanying cards. Often, when this card is shown during a a reading, we are being reminded that we are oppressing ourselves with past fears installed by Authority to "domesticate" us.
Thank you for your interest and comments. May you live long and prosper by claiming your own body and being your own Author!    Just by treating others as you would be treated, deprives the Cultural- Tyrant of any power over your body!

Dear Eli, I want to send you my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your guidance and teachings on the Thoth tarot. I decided to take your advice on dealing with the Nine of Swords. In taking a stance of "passive resistance" I have found a peace and understanding that has helped me enormously. Now when she visits me I say..." I see you, I know you, you have no power here. I choose to claim my life. I choose to claim my light. I choose love" No more running for the hills or diving for cover when the Nine of Swords comes to visit! I give great thanks for your teachings.

Hi TaraB. Willful focus of intent, in other words, focusing emotion, willfully, into intent, is magic. Scattering emotion to the winds, and/or environment is slavery. "Do what thou wilt, is the whole of the law; The law is love." Very good! I salute the Magus in you! May you live long and prosper.

Hi Eli, another teaching! I hadn't considered that it was the Magus who helps to focus intent. I now have a better understanding of him also. He has been difficult for me to connect with/understand, although I have been fascinated by the symbology of this Arcana. I want to say that I'm writing to you from Ireland, hence the late time of my comments. The bright diamonds of your insight are reaching far and wide! Thanks again..

Thank you Eli for this wonderfull explanation. Could you elaborate a little bit more on how the best way to deal with it is passive agressiveness? What is the difference between passive and active agressiveness in this context? Also, this passive agressiveness should be directed against whom? The tyrant inside our lizard brain? Thanks again Eli!

Hi Mario. If you've read TaraB's comments, you'll find that the best way to be "passively aggressive" is to not fear. Just tell the "Devil inside", "Go away, I have no time to waste with you, you have no power over me, I am the Will, I am the Way, I am the Health, I own the day!" Active aggression is battle and war, which gives your "opponant" power over you and is based on fear of death. The Tyrant within is a viral program to keep you an indoctrinated slave, there realy isn't a person there, it is a pleasure pain, installed program of conditioning. Yet,like all "software" it becomes a voice of its own; one we listened to all our lives because, you are told it is what keeps you "good", as you are born naturally "bad".It is the temptation of Christ in the desert. Once, ignored, the tyrant, like the Satan character in Jesus's temptation in the desert, becomes a "white noise" that you never listen to, it will fade away, like all forgotten useless things. Thank you for your interest and bright comments. May you live long and prosper.
