Thoth Deck Tarot: THE FOUR FOURS

The Four Fours are attributed to Chesed-Mercy- (view the Tree in past blogs) on the Qabalistic Tree of Life.  There is also a connection between the Threes and the Fours that is extremely complex. However, by just remembering the important characteristic that the Fours are "below the Abyss", meaning they are responsible for solidification and materialization of the element they represent. Thus the Fours explain that things have become manifest and expressed as the Rule of Law.
The Four of Wands-Completion-, as Crowley states, " The manifestation promised by Binah (Great Mother) has now taken place." This number is very solid and is the dominating influence on all the following cards, because it is the light- as-we- know it- emitter.
Chesed- is Jupiter-Ammon and is the Father as he is the First Male Force below the Abyss but this is not a "lower status", as he is the highest idea which can be understood in an intellectual way.  This is why the Sephira-Chesed, is attributed to Jupiter, who is the Demiurge (The Three Demiurges, are The All Father, The Ruler, and the Son....all after the Abyss). The masculine nature of Fire, allows the Four of Wands to be clear cut "as the Fiery nature of light" and/ or a manifested light emitting Fire, as is the Sun. I will get into the reading explanation of these cards, as I have in past blogs, and will in future blogs, But for now, I explaining their placement meanings in the Minor Arcana.

The Four of Cups:
The Four of Cups- Luxury-, is attributed to the Element Water. The weakness of Water threatens its purity and it is not quite strong enough to control itself properly and is a little unstable. Somehow, the purity of emotion, is lost in the process of satisfaction. As does water, emotion in a state of  "pooled" satisfaction, becomes putrid, unless new emotional expression (Water flow) is added. It is easily understood that emotions are a "wobbly bit" of energy flow that left to it's own devices, that is, damned up by closed thought processes, becomes incapable of controlling itself properly and comes out in a gush of irrationality at the weakest point in our self -image. Thus, such static emotions as satisfaction, happiness, lust, etc, frustratingly seem to be fleeting as they degrade into dissatisfaction, unhappiness and boredom... But then, the process of flow is necessary to keep energy in motion and "proceeding from order to disorder" is the Rule of Law in our material world.
A truly Spiritual person knows that today's feelings are for the pleasure of the creative- living moment, not dead in the past, nor to dedicated to a future that isn't. For to live in the dead past, or the nonexistent future, is to not be alive Today. So when a moment of satisfaction is enjoyed, celebrate it and then move on....until its a satisfying journey, rather than a goal of satisfaction.
The Four  of Swords:   Truce    seems to mean "that a strong man armed keeping the house in peace". The illustration of this card is almost a picture of the military clan system of male dominated society. Air is a dominant masculine force , so this seems appropriate.  Air is the element attributed to consciousness and/or mind, and when the mental forces of the Super-conscious, the Causal, Mental and Emotional states of intelligent forces (Auric Bodies) are in agreement with the operation of the physical body, we have a Truce and all arguments are set aside for optimum operation, and skillful strategy.

The Four of Disks-Power,
is a card of heavy Stable fortifications. We know power to be the ability to do work, and the 4 of Disks represents this ability. However, the Power here is not a brutal violence but rather, a power that dominates everything by negotiation, by pacific methods. It is like the Constitution, a Law without aggressive element.
The Element Earth is such a non- aggressive element and even though it is constantly  assaulted by Fire, Air and Water, it is the foundation of all material forms on Earth. This card, the Four of Disks basically represents stability.
