THE SIX OF SWORDS: The Spiral Tarot and Thoth Tarot Card Comparisons

The Tarot Card, Six of Swords represents the 6th Sephiroth of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Tiphareth means BEAUTY and is where all the paths of the Tree of Life meet. It is the Center or Sun of the Tree and is also called the "Son of God", i.e. The Christ or Buddha consciousness. Those who begin traveling this inner path will find the initiation of Tiphareth the first of the Greater Initiations into the meaning of Self.  This Tiphareth initiation  is literally a scarifying of all that we know to be self, and life as we have lived it.
Here the sacrifice is not relinquishing the much desired something, but rather a transition of Force, from that of the will of lesser consciousness to the Pure Will of the Greater Self. "Thy will be done" rather than, "my will be done'.

The Four Sixes are about definite accomplishment and carrying out of a matter.

The Spiral Tarot  Six of Swords is untitled and depicts a lone figure being guided to shore by an angel. The six swords are interwoven into the boat that seems to be traveling on a swirling air and water mixture.  This is most appropriate as Aquarius, the sign of this card, is an air (Swords are attributed to the alchemical element of Air) sign; air being called the "essence of Mind" in the Tarot as it is the turbulent child born from the mating of Fire (spirit) and Water (Consciousness). The lone figure traveling the waters to a new shore, implies one of the meanings attributed to the Six of Swords, which is about a move or traveling  over water, to an improved life. The light on the shore, holds a promise of sanctuary earned by the effort of the lone figure.
`
THE THOTH SIX OF SWORDS- SCIENCE:
Here, we have Mercury in Aquarius. Thus, this card is also called: Lord of Earned Success The Angels of the Decan are: Rehaayal and Yeyezeil . The Six of Swords is influenced by Tiphareth in the Astral World [ Yetzirah].
The air sign of Aquarius, is ruled by Saturn, which tends to stabilize the fleeting qualities of Mercury. The positioning of Mercury in Aquarius, a Mind sign, leads naturally to science and humanitarianism so success is  the result of Saturn's work in this aspect.

On the Thoth Card the cutting power of Swords is turned toward the positive, and the Rose is resurrected after being war torn in the Fives of Swords, related to the Severity of Geburah. In the Six of Swords, the swords all come together at a point in the restored Rose Cross of Six squares, which Crowley calls, " The Rose Cross at  the central secret of Scientific Truth."  Thus, we have the definitive meaning of "success after anxiety and trouble", for the Way of the Cross is suffering before ascension. Here, Tiphareth shows the perfect balance and idea of the card, as all moral and mental faculties are perfectly balanced, won by great effort, but hard to hold in a ever-changing world of political propaganda and commercialized morality. That is why skrying of the cards and meditation on Qaballah are recommended by this author.

When thrown during a reading, the six of swords implies that the querent is:
  • Objective, logical and prone to logical thinking therefore showing strong analytical ability, and displays logical scientific thinking both internally and outwardly.
  • In Six weeks or Six months , problems will be ended, because the correct, logical things have been done or are being done.
  • Communication patterns are logical, reliable and promote problem solving.
  • There is a general acceptance of attitudes and belief systems that promote rhythmic and cyclic life style.
  • The ability to see things as a whole objective perspective. Here, the mind is watching itself and aids in passage from one world of conscious perspective to another.

The negative of this card, would be confusion because of extreme mental activity producing conflicting thoughts, ambiguity  and indecision. Again, negativity depends on the accompanying cards. There is no obligation to donate, but thank you.
Thank you for your interest and understanding. May you live long and prosper
