The Thoth Two of Disks-Change is representative of the dual change of
inner and outer self and/or cause and effect. Uroboros (Oriental symbol
of infinity), the snake that eats its own tail, symbolizes the
consistency of cyclic change. Change is the positive Universal constant
that keeps energy moving as transformation motion. The figure eight, represents balance and
adjustment; it is a balance of two united circles which show in 2
dimensions the spiral cycle of energy. We have the Chinese yin/yang
symbols, both horizontal and vertical.
- The horizontal yin/yang
represents tangible changes that can realized in the external
- The vertical yin/yang indicates internal change.
- The black and
white serpent in the back ground represents that which is knowable
(white) and that which is unfamiliar (black) and indicates that the
unification of opposites is a change that expands and liberates our
awareness from the ignorance of the "good/bad" 2 dimensional world of
- Change is also elemental, as shown by the triangular shapes
(within the "dots" of the yin/yang symbols)which are the old alchemical
symbols of the earth, air, water and fire .
The astrological aspect of
the Two of Disks or Pentacles card is Jupiter in Capricorn symbolizing the expansive, positive,
opportunistic manipulation of external changes (Jupiter) that are also
stable, solid, and secure in your life (Capricorn).
Chokmah is Wisdom and is the governing factor of the four Twos and the Four Kings.
- The Active Supernal Father, as Kether is the God the Observer who is inactive and the all Seeing "I".
- The Will to Force , combined with Binah the Will to Form, making the Divine Marriage of Will to Be.
- Dynamic outpouring Energy (Vital Life Force).
- Unorganized and Uncompensated. Organization happens in Chesed
- The Great Stimulator who is The First Positive.
Chokmah's symbols are:
The Line, the Yod and the Phallus. Chokmah is also called the Sphere of the Zodiac
and the color is a grey, made of a swirling of all colors that have not
yet been organized. Here the Mystery of Sex, is apply termed and begun.
The Mystery of Positive and Negative polarities, of Electric and
Magnetic Force. The Universal union of opposites that makes motion
possible, that is why Chokmah is the Great Stimulator .
THE TWO OF DISKS-CHANGE:
also as the Two of Pentacles, this card is the Lord of Harmonious
Change. As mentioned before, astrologically, The Two of Disks is Jupiter in Capricorn The
Angels of the Decan are Lekabel and Yeshiriah.
Here, Chokmah is influencing the Material World known as Assiah to Qabalists.
Jupiter is known as a benevolent planet but is not well placed in
Capricorn where it's only positive influence can be exercised in
organization. Thus the harmonies of dual interactions which are inherent
in Chokmah, are assured in earthly application.
As One Energy in
Atziluth (Supernal Triangle), the Duality of Energy (He-She) is now
completely expressed as Force and Form and/or polarity making a circle into a
Figure Eight; a symbol that also represents infinity and the Mobius loop. This figure eight
is shown as A Large Serpent on the card, the Uroboros, As you know,
Serpentine Force is an ancient occult way of describing waves of frequencies of the One Energy. Uroboros
is also a very ancient symbol for Wisdom (The Greek Sophia), the English name of Chokmah.
Thus the Two of Disks also suggests the underlying patterns of
alternation in all matter and the profoundly powerful relationship
between opposites as shown in the use of the yin yang symbol on this
card. However, in divination this card represents the harmony of change.
[ What is interesting here, is that the Serpent represents Wisdom, yet the common Christian concept is that the Serpent represents evil which seems to carry forth the religious practice of demonizing scientific knowledge. Let's see ; The Serpent as wisdom would mean a Gift from the Divine, yet according to the Genesis legend, Eve was tempted by the "evil" serpent to disobey the Divine. But in fact, before revisionism, The Wisdom of the Divine Creative told Eve to Eat the fruit of the Tree of Life, so that she could receive knowledge and/or inherit her creative mind (the Hu-Man brain that resides on the top of the Mammalian brain)... yet this is somehow bad? Remember, the word human comes from the Mandarin word Hu for god, and the Hindu word Manas, for mind. Also, Apples in the West and Pomegranates in the East, are the symbols of the Divine Yoni, or Womb which is the Imagination or "mind of the image maker". There the comparison of the duality of Serpent and Apple (Oval) begs the understanding of an open mind, for inheriting the "god-mind" would be considered bad by your "rulers" who wished to keep you ignorant for the purpose of manipulating your definitions and therefore your identity to fulfill there greedy ambitions! This understanding also seems to clearly describe organized religion as an enslavement of the mind!]
The Spiral Tarot Two of Pentacles,
is again keeping the tradition of mundane meanings. Here is depicted a Harlequin (a name for the Fool-0 card) holding two Pentacles in perfect balance. The balancing of opposites is shown in the up and down positions of the pentacle-bells on the end of the hat extensions. The closed flower in the wet - stormy side and the open flower in the sunny side, and the black and white checks are also implying the union of opposites.
WHEN THE TWO OF DISKS OR TWO OF PENTACLES, IS THROWN DURING A READING ,it implies:
The Two of Disks or Pentacles
is a card of Change, the most important corrective in the Universe, as
it keeps transformation going. Plus the combining of opposites makes
diversity possible, For example if you combine blue with blue, you only
get blue, But Blue with Red makes Purple, and color is now diversified.
Energy alone, is just everywhere and no-where at the same moment but
energy combined with Magnetism is Form. Thus time space is the subjective material of form, which can only continue with the changes brought on by beginning and end.
- A transition or transformation in the physical.
