Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Tarot 4 of Cups-Luxury & The Elemental Tarot- 4 of Water-Moat.

THE TAROT OF ELI From the Golden Dawn Texts:
" In Chokmah is the Radix of blue and thence is there a blue color pure and primitive, and glistening, with a spiritual Light which is reflected into Chesed [forth Sephira-Mercy]. And the Sphere of its Operation is called Tzedek or Justice and it fashionith the images of material things, bestowing peace and mercy: and it ruleth the sphere of the action of the planet Jupiter. And Al is the title of a God strong and mighty, ruling in Glory, Magnificence and Grace. And the Archangel of Chesed is Tsadkiel, the Prince of Mercy and Beneficence, and the Name of the order of Angels is Chasmalim, Brilliant Ones, who are also called the Order of Dominions. The Sephira Chesed is also called Gedulah or Magnificent and Glory."

With such flowery words of ritual adoration, it is often difficult  to realized that this is Part of your Inner inheritance as a Divine Child. But so it is. Inside of you, which is infinity, you are compose of these "states of energy conscious", thus the value of inner self meditation and skrying of the tarot cards should be apparent to one. who is interested.

THE FOUR OF CUPS, in the Thoth Deck is called Luxury or Lord of Blended Pleasure. The Planet is Moon and the sign is Cancer.  The Angels of the Decan are: Hayayel and Mevamayah Practice calling these names, you may be surprised at the vibratory change.

The Four of Cups is Chesed, Mercy, in Briah, (The creative world/mental world) here Chesed is influencing the unconscious mental realm.

The alternate flow of the Moon is mitigated in Cancer, as the Moon naturally rules in this sign. Changing cycles are still there, but passive, and slow. When looking at the Crowley Card, we see the Upper Golden Solar cups overflowing with the loving emotion symbolized by the crescent moon and rose colored lotus, but not the lower, implying that the Pleasure is real but with reservations.  The caveat being; pleasure but not without some anxiety and discomfort.  Here the Luxurious feeling of pleasure is short and indifference soon takes over and as the multiple stems of the one lotus show, the energy of luxury is divided amongst multiple flows, implying too many diverse issues involved to stay stable.  Four is a "dead end" number so ending is the only place to go and action must be taken soon.
The Elemental Tarot 4 of Water-Moat, depictsa woman's confident face being projected from a square of security. The four walls of a square are often shown as security or enclosure, ensuring confidence, security and conventionality.  The eye in a pink square that is depicted on her forehead, implies the ability to be empathetical and sense other  peoples feelings.
Her outer face that is shown to the world, is placid but the ignored inner face is screaming.  The outer moat is hitting the outer walls of the square, with seven waves and water is slowly rising in the square of security. Therefore depicting the temporary placidity of this card as emotions under repression soon break down the walls and emerge in a flash flood if irrational pain.
The astrological assignation of this card is shown in the upper left hand corner of this card, is a combination of planet signs, Mars/Neptune. Which in astrology would be Neptune in the first house/Aries.  However, the authors are just combining the meanings of the two planets to explain; control of feelings. Although, Neptune in the house of Aries (Aries is ruled by Mars) would explain the clairvoyance, empathy and mediumistic abilities for sensing the feelings of others.
Mars/Neptune combination is about spiritual forces. Such as, being guided by a higher power in all actions; fighting with spiritual weapons or non-violent in another way; conquers by yielding and striving for what is boundless.
The god name; Cheng-Huang is the Chinese god of walls and ditches.
The Egyptian glyphs describing this card, are shown in the lower left hand corner.
The number 4 and it's symbol of a square are in the upper right.

When the Thoth 4 of Cups or The Elemental Tarot 4 of Water card is thrown during a reading,
  • For a time, say 4wks or 4 months the querent shall experience emotional luxury, which is the capacity to make other people feel emotionally satisfied, secure and peaceful.
  • A period of contentment but this is the edge of completion and a new vision of love is being seen.
  • Thus there is both  the gift and challenge of a fallow period.
  • There maybe boredom,  and apathy with a sprinkling of discontent as the querent awaits inspiration.
  •  Here there is type of balance that is caught between the worlds of thought and action.  A good time for clarity and refining things down to a simple truth.
  • Confidence to deal with everyday emotions.
  • Negatively trapped and drowning in emotional feelings.
