Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Tarot-9 of Cups/Happiness & The Elemental Tarot- 9 of Water/Gaia.

The Tarot of Eli
Those who have read my blogs, know by now that Yesod, the ninth Sephiroth that is the vessel of the conscious entity of the 9's, is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical plane.

The Nines, in Qabalistic Tarot, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Firm Foundational Base of Yesod, the Purple Sephira called, Foundation.
Since this is pure power, it has no will of its own; that means it can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discrimination is the Key here.
THE THOTH NINE OF CUPS-Lord of Material Happiness, is Jupiter in Pisces. The Angels of the Decan are Saliah and Asriel.

The Nine of Cups is Yesod in Briah, influencing the Material World. Here, the benevolence of Jupiter effects happiness and satisfaction in the Earth plane (Malkuth), by functioning through the Water of Pisces. Therefore,
this is a card of sensuality and pleasure, more mystical than convention allows and less stable than the Ten, but CONSCIOUS EMOTION is now flowing and reaching towards the mystical states of ecstasy (the rapture). Here, sensual pleasure, may be felt as a religious experience, as the influence of Jupiter is strong in the passive, receptive, and somewhat psychic character of Pisces.

Jupiter in Pisces also indicates pleasant travel by water and brings good fortune  through occupations governed by Neptune. The personality inclination here is a tendency for kindness, quiet and unassuming, with an unambitious approach to life. If the planet is well dignified, there may be a more ambitious approach to occupation.
The Square arrangement of the Cups, overflowing into one another, suggests Chesed (Mercy)-Jupiter and the perfection of Water force, a dreamy current of Consciousness which is also reinforced by Yesod-9, being the number of the Moon. Pisces brings out the most Placid form of Water (emotion/ consciousness), so this card is a Happiness well-spring that floods into our normal state of consciousness. The recipient of this Happiness, really doesn't ponder a reason to be happy, for their own consciousness has not reasoned it out as a logical way to be.....they "just are"  and they feel "good all over".

Again, the number 9, is the Sephira Yesod [foundation] on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The Nine of Cups, is Yesod in the Suit of water, and 9, being also the number of the Moon, strengthens Water. Thus the stability is restored to Water. After its wobbly exclusions to Hod (left hand path) to Netzach (right hand path) , the suit of Water has now returned to the Middle Pillar.
Jupiter in Pisces is the Ruler of the 9 of Cups, thus adding a benediction that is more than sympathetic to Water. This is obvious, since Jupiter is the Planet of Chesed [Mercy} where water is in it highest manifestation. Plus, Pisces brings out the placidity of Water. Here is True Wisdom fulfilled in Perfect Happiness.

As you can see upon viewing of this card, there are nine cups arranged into a square overflowing and filling one another. Suggested here is the most benevolent aspect of the force of Water; a pleasing state of stable and sparkling emotion. This is a feeling like dancing to the music of the babbling brook and birds,"sky clad" in a warm, sunny field of flowers.  ITS OKAY TO BE YOU!

The Elemental Tarot- 9 of Water/Gaea or Gaia, is concentrating on the benevolent goddess of Water/Consciousness. Here Gaea is represented as the color of a midsummer sky, arising out of a red lake. With hair spread above, she is drawing energy from the upper levels of the Tree of Life. The red, is another aspect of the Goddess, often called, The Blood Moon or Goddess. This is the cleansing blood that all life emerges from, so I suspect that the Red Lake represents the Red aspect of the Goddess as Lilith or Geburah, as does Blue represent the Sophia/Wisdom aspect of the Divine Feminine. The symbols of the Sun and the Moon on her breasts, illustrates the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine union that is the foundation of all creation. The curved arms, seem to enfold an ear of corn, that represents her fertility. The Great Crescent and the trident, represent All the aspects of the Divine Feminine; Maid, Mother and Crone.
The authors of this card have assigned the Moon/Venus, as planetary symbols of this card, meaning, Love and tenderness.

Generally the Moon represents, loving care, disposition, closeness, atmosphere, Mother, Watching over, family, Motherly love and psyche; to name a few.
While Venus generally represents, eroticism, flirting,  a young woman, enticing, temptation, style, taste, willingness, couple, erotic love and even peace; again to name a few.
Although, planets are not shown with other planets in astrology; a planet resides in a House (1 to 12), the union of the two planetary meanings, can produce love and tenderness.
The god name Gaia, is the Greek Mother Goddess.
As before, the Egyptian glyphs for this card are shown in the lower left corner.
The crescent symbol for The Elemental Tarots element, water, is shown on the bottom of the 9 of Water card. The number 9 and its symbol, are shown in the upper right.

When The Thoth 9 of Cups or The Elemental Tarot- 9 of Water card is thrown during a reading, the querent is or will be experiencing:
  • Complete success, pleasure and happiness for the next 9 weeks, or 9 months.
  •  Complete and perfect realization of pleasure and happiness as wishes are fulfilled.
  • There can be some vanity and conceit here, but it is good- natured.
This card also suggests:
  • The querent is high minded and not easily satisfied with small , gossipy, limited ideas.
  • Such a person may be maligned because of their self-assumption but the querent, being of a good generous, sometimes foolish, nature, ...the  maligners tend to look overly critical.
  • The number 9 is also the number of completion, therefore the querent is experiencing the completion of issues and the ensuing happiness thereof.
  • Happiness, is a sensationalizing of success and is a hard one to find any negative connotations for. This is a pleasant card to have in your reading.
  • Contentment and Satisfaction.
  •  Everything looks and feels "rosy".
  • The querent, is enjoying self-esteem and inner joy; Flowing feelings of inspiration and joy.
  • The dull thunk in this chiming joy, is that this is temporary, as Change is the stability of the Universe; "the cat's away, so the mice can play", kind of moment that happens before adult-reason takes over, and finds the logical points of survival thinking that messes up "unmitigated childish joy''.
  • Pleasant travel by water, that will bring good fortune.
Thank you for your interest, comments and donational support. May you live long and prosper.
