The Thoth-SEVEN OF SWORDS: FUTILITY
this card is Moon in Aquarius. The Moon in Aquarius indicates sociability, and often religious inclination. While the Moon is less fluid
and changeable here than normal, the balances established are easily upset.
a Qabalist, this is Netzach (Victory) in Yetzirah (Astral World). The
Astral world is fluid and deceptive, while Netzach is success after
Which indicates that much struggle is wrought before achieving what you envision.
The Thoth Seven of Swords-Futility: This card represents thesabotaging mind where you know what you want symbolized by the central
sword and then go about defining the reasons why you can't obtain it, as
shown by the six swords surrounding the central one.
This is the "yes-but" mind that often keeps us from making our dreams work.
Astrologically the 7 of Swords is Moon and Sun in Aquarius,
circle with a dot in the center is a symbol of the Sun, the Crescent is
the Moon and the wavy lines at the bottom of the Thoth card represent Aquarius.
Each of the six swords of procrastination bear a planetary sign for the six ways we sabotage our selves.
- The "yes-but" aspect of Saturn is telling us there is too much red-tape or it's too complicated.
Sword has on the handle the symbol of Mercury which is about the
negative communication of " I can't... I wish I'd a ...If only..." all
negative reasons why "it won't work".
- Another sword handle
bares the planetary sign of Jupiter; the planet that symbolizes
flexibility and expansion. The negative self-talk of Jupiter is "it's
too limiting and constricted" or " I am not lucky" or "I am not talented
- Another sword sports the planetary sign of Mars.
Positively Mars is a sign of dynamic energy, vitality, and assertion but
the negative side of Mars is " I don't have the energy to...I am burnt
out...it's dull and boring etc."
- Another sword handle is
adorned with the sign of Venus; the planet of Love. The Venusian
negatives would be," I really don't care...It doesn't mean anything to
- Then there is the final sword whose handle
supports the double loops which represent the Sun and the Moon the
negatives of which are consciously and subconsciously you sabotage
yourself out of doing what it is that you want to do. In other words, you are caught in wanna-be-ism which is a viscous cycle of mental inferiority.
Instead of the Power of I AM, we are caught in the self-denial of I Ain't...
Often we run "mind loops" that constantly repeat our past as today's
reason for not progressing or going forward with our life. These mind
loops are the "nag within" syndrome that fear of discomfort/fear of
vulnerability, often generates in our subconscious to avoid presumed
The mundane divination meaning of this card is unstable effort, vacillation and untrustworthy character.
over, this card represents wanting something but believing you can't
, which won't allow you to think things through to a positive end. You are resigned to giving up. In the case of the man facing a tank, if he but thought this through, he would use stealth and a glass bottle full of gasoline (Molotov cocktail) with a flaming wick, to stop this seeming unstoppable weapon, instead he reacted emotionally, which is often futile. The Seven of Swords reminds us, that to be as spirit, which is to be Intelligent Action, rather than reaction.
However futile as it seems, there is the desire
and possibility of victory over this feeling of futility within the next
7 weeks or 7 months. The feeling of futility is really just creating
problems for yourself by not knowing your creative potential. The
mind has become inflexible and focused on fear of lack. Therefore, mental
flexibility is the up side of this card. It reminds us to experiment in
all areas of our life, it is futile to "believe life", when all you have to do is actively be it! Therefore your lifestyle, daily routine, beliefs and
communications, are how you build the energy-emoting you! To "settle for", is to practice futility in being yourself! Because life is
a constant transformation of Force and Form/Form and Force we must constantly change perspectives in order to overcome the natural entropy within. We
En-Force our will upon the Motion of our Form by creating individual beliefs,
dogma, ideas and emotional reactions.
(not believe) that Energy-in-Motion, is the property of Will
that is your Soul, the Conscious Spirit, and not the property of the Power-Tool that is body; is to avoid futility.
It's would behoove those of us who wish impeccable physical performance, to watch our speech. It's better to say, "I
Am the Conscious E-Motion that operates the Physical body", rather than, "I am emotional",
which implies that the body is moved and/or controlled by environment rather than
consciousness energy-motion of a Knowing Spirit. Procrastination or excuses leave us no options, therefore if you need excuses (lack of will) to do or not do something, than futility is operating your mind. Just say "NO" or "Yes", depending on the situation, you don't need excuses to do what you want. When Emotions are just let loose without Willful focus,
they are a unstable effort, vacillation, and untrustworthy character.
Like all Motion,
Energy-in-motion (emotions) places a form into movement and forms requires guidance systems
in order to "hit their target". Looking to past perspectives is not optimal for today's forward looking performance. The best guidance systems come from "Above all things know thyself", which also
describes a vital character who knows what it wants and is able to line
up its sights and when in optimum performance, hitting the target without harming others in the process. "To know
thyself", means more than just self absorbed hedonism. Thyself, is another way
to be the Spiritual Universal Collective Unconscious of One Energy and therefore every thing you see is another way to be you
[Force and Form]. Therefore you knowingly treat them
well, but there is a
to treat others as yourself is a law which you never have broken!
If you think ill of you, you treat others ill! If you think Well of
you, you treat others well! That is how the One Conscious operates, for all that is, is another way to be the One Energy that can't be
destroyed or created, only transformed and transmitted; therefore, making the Universe a Cosmic Mirror of Self Reflection! You are the One who sees itself as Many Possibilities!
As the Tao states: "All you will ever know, is Self."
is indeed FUTILE to seek happiness when you are unhappy with you! Victory over
chaos, comes from an Ordered Mind/Emotion union; Love being the
Greatest Balance of Order! Love thyself, makes all things possible.
Disliking yourself, makes everything a horrendous effort of futility!
The Thoth 7 of Swords
card warns us to ," Wake-up to a new perspective about you or all your actions
are futile; you're good enough to inherit the All!" Remember,
inheritance is not earned, it is accepted, as stated by the Prodigal Son
parable in the Christian Bible. Remember who you are, the Divine Self Image of the Divine Creative!
Divine Justice states, that
what you think you are worth, is what you get! We are all the Children
of the Divine Creative (Divine Parents-Force and Form), our presence alone, is enough to
inherit the Universe but we have freedom to choose our own identity and therefore decide our presence by our perspectives of
ourselves! Why limit your presence? As a consciousness, Rock On with your body-dance partner! You are the Force of your Forms so dance and sing "I AM ME"!
The Babylonian Tarot, 7 of Arrows-Stealth
, depicts an artistic interpretation of historic scene of conquest.
Between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers, is the historic placement of Mesopotamia. To the East of Mesopotamia, lay the kingdom of Elam. In their past, the Elamites were dominated by the Akkadian dynasty but in the 13th century ,B.C.E. they invaded Mesopotamia and regained their independence. The high point of the Elamite conquest ended when king Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon capture the Elamite city of Susa. Later Elam was again invaded by king Ashurbanipal, of Assyria.
Therefore, this card shows two Elamite soldiers, stealthy stalking the enemy while enjoy the cover of reeds. The Elamites were vastly outnumbered by their enemy, yet were successful because of stealthy tactics. So what seemed futile, was overcome by successful and positive tactics.
Above and below them are the seven arrows, which point in both directions. Two arrows are crossed implying, unstable effort; things can go either way, suggesting only partial success.
Also shown amongst the arrows, is the cuneiform symbol for the number 7.

weakness but advising you that choosing you wants moves you forward into
a satisfying life motion and that you have the inherent power to do so.

processes that where developed in a past that may go back to 7 years or
when you where 7 years old.
