Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Ace of Cups & The Jungian Tarot-Ace of Cups: Change of feelings.

The Tarot of EliThe Thoth Deck Ace of Cups, Shows a magnificent Graäl, filling with "White energy", empowering the surroundings, with Spider Woman's Web emanating from it. For those of us who do not know the Myths of Spider Woman; In brief, She is a Native American description of the Great Mother Goddess who wove the fabric of the universe. Today we acknowledge time-space, as a woven grid of energy; the similarity simply means that we have proven the Myth.

The Qabalistic Thoth Ace of Cups represents the secrets of Water(Mind) in its original form. The Wyrd (weaving) of Atoms into flowing waves/currents of energy form. Therefore, in this Energy Universe, Water is also the Feminine compliment (magnetic) , the Moon- vaginal- womb to the masculine- electric- Sun-phallus. In the Psyche, Water is the Great Sea of the Unconscious-feminine creative.

Upon the Dark Sea of Binah (or Goddess Mari if Gnostic Nazarene/Essene) are Lotuses, two in one, that fill the Graäl-cup with Life Fluid, that is either represented as Water, Wine or Blood according to the selected purpose of the ritualized symbolism. In such symbolism, the Lotus can be replaced by a Blood Red Rose,  thus representing the Blood Red Sea of Binah from which all Life flows. The Blood Red Rose is also the image for the "Rosy Cross" symbol.

Remembering that all Aces are the "mysterious seed" of a force can't objectify this force no matter how much imagery we use to describe "The Womb with a View" (I've called the Great Her  since I was very young).  She is a Force that makes Form from "I" (ideas) by birthing "Am". In terms of Hermetic Qabalah, the Ace of Cups represents the "Holy Graäl", the "Vessel of Mind". To represent this amazing Force, in any form of metaphor is difficult at most, and a mystery in the least. It's like trying to identify the one who has left foot prints in the snow. You know someone has been there, but no conclusive clue on their identity. She is the Seed of all Life.; of Energy as Form.

The Qabalistic Thoth- ACE OF CUPS:
represents the emotional world of feeling; the time of Summer and the Space of East. This is the symbol of receptivity, psychism, instincts, fears, memories, desires, dreams, fantasy, and all the other aspects of the subconscious. This is the essence of imagination, what I call "the womb-with-a -view".

The colors of Cup:
are those of water, lakes, ponds, oceans, rivers, rain and the blood. If you remember your biology, blood is blue until it is oxidized (You may have notice your blue veins). This is the Holy Grail sitting within the emotional nature (would be a fitting symbol for the Emotional Body of our Aura) which is represented by the blue cup. It is the conscious state of emotional integrity, as represented by the double rainbow. The inside and outside are without dichotomy. As above so below can also be seen here.

The Ace of cups also symbolizes the ability to nurture one's-self with the same capacity as one gives out to others.

The blue Grail, is Wisdom and the Cup symbol is Love, making it apparent that Love and Wisdom are in union as a flow of nurturing, healing, supporting emotional force (as seen by the radiance entering the cup). Love and Wisdom in equal balance.

The serpent handles of the Thoth cup symbolize the regenerative nature of this balance.
The lotus base represents the trusting heart who never over-extends itself emotionally but unfolds itself naturally without resistance or holding itself back. In fact, this Love-Wisdom union is the woven fabric of Life itself, as symbolized by the web of Spider Woman (Native American Mother of the Universe) that is seen behind the cup.
The Jungian Ace of Cups: Change of Feelings; is considered one of the most emotional cards in the minor arcana.

The wholly spirit, shown as a dove shown diving into the fiery cup, (fire represents the Masculine "self-conscious"), depicts an emotional upheaval bringing new emotions into the self-conscious of an individual. This sudden transformation, may cause rapid swings from one emotion to another as this is a strong concomitant and equally strong change on all levels of physiology.
Here, feeling precedes the structure of thought or of action. Individually, this may mean a radical change in feelings about another person, or a transformation of value systems such as achieved by a passionate change of religions or of a new political movement. The card therefore, represents a tremendous outpouring of group energy (The Soul is a collective of personalities created as experience) to adjust great change in feelings of the individual.

When the Ace of Cups card is thrown, it indicates:
  • That  in the period of one year you will experience  emotional integrity, equal balance in self-nurturing and the nurturing of others.
  • The Ace of Cups also implies the implementation of trust that can be experienced in relationships with water sign people in your life; Pisces, (February 21- March 21), Scorpios, (October 21 to November 21) and Cancer (June 21-July 21).
  • The Ace of Cups is a quality of the Magus (key 1 of the Trump) who is the archetype of communication.
  • The Ace of Cups is the aspect of being able to communicate feelings from a place of emotional integrity and trust rather than from a place of control.
  • This card represents the Ecstasy that comes with the Love of life in its entirety. As the Tao has stated,"..where there is ecstasy, there is creation. Where there is no ecstasy there is no creation." Maybe Ecstasy built us so it could be us!
  • The seed of a form, and idea beginning to formulate.
  • A birth starting in the mind as a zygote that will take about a year to manifest its true form.
  • Beauty, fertility, productiveness.
  • The Mysterious Seed of Femininity.
