Tarot Card Comparisons: The Qabalistic Thoth Tarot-7 of Disks: Failure & The Jungian Tarot-7 of Pentacles: Gain Through Commerce

The Tarot of Eli
The Qabalistic Thoth Tarot-7 of Disks: Failure.
Netzach , is the seventh Sephira on the Tree of Life and is called Victory; the ruling intelligence of the 7's; victory implies an exhausting  contest won by supreme effort.  This enfeeblement of exhaustion is accentuated by the fact that the Seven of Disks is ruled by the influence of Saturn in Taurus.  Saturn being a heavy, dark, primeval ( Known as the "Old King " of the gods) planet, is made even heavier, more obstinate and plodding by the influence of Taurus, yet the moral character is firm and obstinately capable of overcoming obstacles' by sheer determination.

As artistically shown by the dark nature of the Seven of Disks card, in mundane affairs of money, Saturn in Taurus is not a very good influence.
It is indeed, financial failure. In fact, unless very well dignified, money comes slowly or just wastes away. However, all Is not lost for the very plodding, obstinate and determined behavior suggested by this card, can save one from financial ruin by their natural careful, saving  and quite frugal character.

The atmosphere of the Seven of Disks-Failure, is that of blight as the background depicting spoiled vegetation, all colored in indigo and reddish orange (hardly seen in this  card's electronic reproduction). The disks, represent the leaden disks of Saturn and suggest bad money. In alchemy, this card represents the act of putrefaction, which must occur before purification can be pursued.
In The Qabalistic Thoth Tarot; The Four Sevens influence the end of one thing and the promise of something new:

Many of us know that there is only one energy, and that we can't create nor destroy this energy, but we can transform and transmit it; even by our imagination. In fact, everything that is, is a transformation of the One energy/Life...including you! The Sevens are no exception, they are a state of energy-conscious that is a transformation that unbalances the previously stable sixes, so that perfection can be reached.

The  7's are all under the influence of the seventh Sephira- Netzach ( victory), which is a position low on the Tree of Life, and off of the middle pillar, thus all Sevens are very unstable.
It is a risky business descending, using frantic energy, into this domain of illusion. Netzach is attributed to Venus, and Earth. This knocks Venus off her heavenly perch which to Venus is a great catastrophe. Therefore, the four Sevens, bring no comfort and are a depredation of the element they represent, exposing their greatest weakness.

As we can see by examining the Qabalistic meanings of the Sevens, the journey into enlightenment is not all "sweetness and light", often we are following delusions that must be shattered before we can see beyond the mirror images of indoctrination and man-made definitions.
The Seven of Disk is no exception, as this card represents the extreme in passivity. Spirit is action, not reaction, and passivity in the heavy leadership of Saturn/Time below the Abyss, promotes extreme inactivity. The positive virtue of Spiritual action, is not even casting a shadow here, where one is a slave to fear of failure and lives in "yesterday's reaction" which is a death to today's living.

In the other Sevens of the Thoth tarot, there is represented some effort, no matter how weak, to expand beyond the low state of the element; none exists in the Seven of Disks. There isn't even a dream of action. Labor itself is abandoned and all is sunk in sloth.

Thank all that is, change is a constant in this Universe of Transformational energy/Life. For many of us have deluded ourselves into these low states, and have survived our struggle and moved forward out of the mire of self-denial, self-delusion and back into our Soul's arms! Where once we were self-conscious (personality) we have changed by remembering that we are Conscious-Self (Psyche/Soul).

Often I've heard that "God is Love", and that human kind is "made in God's Image", yet I have never heard the obvious truth of the combination of these statements: "Love created me to be Itself." To know this is to Know the Miracle that bears your name...Life! Life, the Divine Creative, created me as Life's self-image. Now where in the hell am I seeking a life and/or needing the approval of the alive? To do so would be likened to a "fish in the Ocean, seeking water".

Again, The Thoth-7-of Disks: Failure represents:
Physical failure, labor thwarted, and everything is sunk in sloth. This card represents a pause in the garden of financial, health, and physical relationships. There is also fear of failure and fear of success which is generated by negative past experiences.

To emotionally fear is to constrict energy and to obfuscate the direction it is being sent. Fear is a created reaction gone against the motion of the fearful. Our fear of discomfort, is our worst enemy here.

Take a long look at this card. Its astrological sign is Saturn in Taurus. The planet Saturn is symbolic of constricted, restricted and/or the feeling of limited energy.  Taurus is representative of productivity and achievement. The two together tell us that our productivity and achievement are being restricted and limited by our fear of failure. This aspect of Saturn and Taurus can also be seen in the coins as the helmet symbol is Saturn and the Bull is Taurus. Hence, predicting a feeling of failure that interferes with our mundane financial situation. The Helmet is also a symbol of a conscious constriction of which fear is indicative of. This card also indicates a loss of capacity to inspire ourselves or others. Yet there are contradictory meanings here since this is a pause in the force of our creativity, this could also be just waiting for the fruition of our efforts and is a time of repose and waiting for results. Seeds of new growth are being planted here and the querent may be waiting for a better and more rewarding path to be discovered.

The Jungian 7 of Pentacles: Gain Through Commerce, represents:
  • Almost certain gain through finance, business, investments, stocks, or banking.
  • Indicates a responsible position as the favor of superiors is earned. (rarely from co-workers who deem this person aloof and cold)
  • Represents a genus at business management, manipulation, guile, and financial gamesmanship. Having little to do with the amount of time or effort expended, such as a fortune being made by a 5 minute call to a stock broker.
  • The pursuit of money is done to exclusion of all else; co-workers are merely pawns to be used as necessary, family and friends are secondary.
  • Here, business may be an emotional escape from personal responsibilities.

When the 7 of Disks/Pentacles card is thrown during a divination, it implies that:
  • In the next 7 weeks or 7 months, the more rewarding path will be discovered and the period of waiting is over, or you will have to confront your fear of failure in the next 7 weeks or 7 months in order to plant anew and reap a more generous harvest in your future.
  • It is time to move through old fears and self defeating thoughts of past failures whether they have been experienced in the past 7 weeks, 7 months or when you were 7 years old.
  • Fear is constricted energy focused on a point of I Am...I Am is our inherited God Voice within our Super-conscious. It declares the direction of our energy such as, I Am sad...I Am happy...I Am poor..I AM wealthy..In the infinite realm of possibilities, I AM is the foundation of all creation and creation is a restriction of energy to form a "point in time"; which we are! Since you have been given the God-like freedom to declare yourself any way you like...repeating concepts of failure tell your Greater Self that you demand failure as an expression of your likeness! Knowing this:
  •  It is recommended that for the next 7 weeks or 7 months that your repeat declarations of Wealth.
  • How about; "I Am The Will and the Way. I Am the Wealth and I own the Day!". Say this at least 7 times a day for 7 weeks or 7 Months. I've been doing it now for the past 7 years and my days flow in a joyous dance of discovery. I highly recommend that you remember yourself as an I AM who is a Magic Sorcerer from the Source of all Creation who has been given the power of emotional focus to create your reality.  This is a great power---use it gratefully!
  • Experiencing for the past or future seven weeks or seven months, unprofitable speculation and employment.
  • Loss of apparently promising fortune with little gain from much labor.
  • A cultivator of land is suggested, yet very little gain thereof.
  • There is also suggestion of slight and isolated gains that bear no fruit, though seemingly promising such.
When very well dignified by the accompanying cards,
  • There is a suggestion of honorable work undertaken for the love of it, without desired reward.
  • The honorable work being reward in itself.
  • This is often called Lust with out the need of result and in this case, it is about the love of physical work where the perfected craft itself is the reward.
Thank you for your interest, comments and supportive donations. May you live long and prosper!
