Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Tarot- 10 of Disks: WEALTH & The B.O.T.A. Tarot - 10 of Pentacles.

The Tarot of EliIn Thoth Deck Tarot of the Hermetic Qabalah, the number 10 representsthe final issue or manifestation of the Energy. Solidification is final, the force is completely expended and results in the end of a thing or death through the process of the 2nd law of Thermodynamics: "All things proceed from order to disorder". This is the natural degradation of Time, making change a necessity to continued progress.
The Celestia rule of this card is Mercury in Virgo, implying that the accumulated wealth is inert substance and must be kept in motion by investment or purchase, rather than accumulation. This futility of miserly control over material gain is shown by the arrangement of the Disk/Coins on the Tree of Life, where the smaller 9 coins end at the larger Tenth coin, representing accumulation.

As stated, to an astrologer, this card represents Mercury in Virgo. Mercury is the old "God of Commerce" and when He rules in Virgo (an earth sign) material gain becomes so vast it may lose its importance.
In the Hermetic Qabalah,  the Ten of Disks is known as Malkuth (Kingdom) in Assiah (Material World) which would represent an embarrassment of riches.
The divinatory meaning is physical prosperity, abundance and material success.
Therefore this Hermetic Tarot card suggests a complete wealth, which includes financial security and firm foundations for home and family. Also suggesting that property has been or is being acquired for the founding of  new generations or traditions.

There is nothing referring to a "Higher Consciousness" about this card, as the Swiftness of Mercury, is set about gathering material gain in a total focus and all is at the very pinnacle of objective physical success. This cleverness in self-consciousness, for prosperous activity in money matters, can lead to a certain dullness of imagination, a slothfulness brought on by feeling totally secure and a resistance to take risks.

All the disks are inscribed with various Mercurial symbols, with Hod (8th Sephira-Splendor) being the exception as its inscription is that of the cipher of the Sun.This indicates that the only possible release from the impasse produced by the exhausted elemental forces, is the Solar Will of the Father. This fiery will, animates all things and will vibrate all impasses apart. Thus in the case of Hod, Mercury, the swift footed god of commerce and communication, becomes the Logos, the Word (First Vibration), the Will and the Wisdom. The Arcana of the Eternal Son and Virgo the Virgin, is implied in every way in this cipher of the Sun.

When it comes to the whole card of the Ten of Disks, it is a hieroglyph of the cycle of regeneration.  The mundane implications here are that accumulation of Wealth can only progress through willful reinvestment into objects.

The magical implications of this card go deeply into the Mysteries of the Fiery Lingam and the Water-Yoni, the descending female triangle to the ascending male triangle and the magic that comes from uniting the Macrocosm with the Microcosm, producing True Wisdom and Happiness.

To reiterate, the Sephiroth, MALKUTH is Earth, that is also called the Active Word and/or Assiah.  It is the lone Sephira of this World. In the other Worlds of the Qabalistic Tree of Life, there are Three Sephiroth composing a Triangle, but Assiah/Malkuth stands alone, for it is the completion of all the other States of Energy Conscious.

Assiah, the 4th Qabalistic World, is the only Sensual Activity, of Creation. Now this may seem otherwise to the Initiate who sensually experiences the "Inner Worlds" of the Tree of Life, as they often forget that they are still "attached" to a Sensual body, and thus feel the Conscious experiences.  But to travel, the other Sephiroth without a body, is to feel nothing at all! There is only One Sense to the Original Fiery  Consciousness of the Father, and that is the sense of "I" sight. There is also a Sense of Other-Mother who is the "Am": the Understanding that builds all image.  Therefore, all the "Five Senses" of the mundane body, are just Transformations of that One Sense of "I Am" (the union of Father/Mother).

What we often fail to understand when viewing all the individual ways a mind is being presented, that there is only One Mind,The Universal Divine Collective Unconscious, and each of us is a unique perspective of Being; an individual I AM Me, presented by that Mind. This Wealth of  Self-Perspectives, can cause us to "not see the forest through the trees", thereby losing the joy of observing such inherited wealth to the fear of being lost among the many.

To those who practice the Mysteries, there are considerably more senses "felt" than five, some say,as many as ten (Tantra states there are 33), but describing everyone of these sensual states is not for this single blog to describe. However, to experience them, one must "project their Soul through the senses of the physical body outward into the manifested world; In other words, be active spirit rather than reactive self-conscious.  So if you are interested in a greater Wealth of Sensuality, start your journey up the Tree while you as Psychic energy, still support a physical body. Indeed, there is no greater wealth than "Whole Self". What many don't know is that as Spirit/Life, when we enliven a physical form, liberating it from animal limited survival thinking, by establishing a "Dual Being who is both Male and Female ( Divine Conscious and Divine Unconscious) we are preforming a Tantra:
Traditional explanation of Tantra. (from Wikipedia)

The Tantric tradition offers various definitions of tantra. One comes from the Kāmikā-tantra:
Because it elaborates (tan) copious and profound matters, especially relating to the principles of reality (tattva) and sacred mantras, and because it provides liberation (tra), it is called a tantra.
A second, very similar to the first, comes from Swami Satyananda.
Tantra embodies two Sanskrit words: tanoti (expands) and trayoti (liberates)... It is the system by which you liberate or separate the two aspects of consciousness and matter - purusha and prakriti or Shiva and Shakti.

A third comes from the 10th-century Tantric scholar Rāmakaṇṭha, who belonged to the dualism school Śaiva Siddhānta:
A tantra is a divinely revealed body of teachings, explaining what is necessary and what is a hindrance in the practice of the worship of God; and also describing the specialized initiation and purification ceremonies that are the necessary prerequisites of Tantric practice.

Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar describes a tantric individual and a tantric cult:
A person who, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, aspires for spiritual expansion or does something concrete, is a Tantric. Tantra in itself is neither a religion nor an "ism". Tantra is a fundamental spiritual science. So wherever there is any spiritual practice it should be taken for granted that it stands on the Tantric cult."

According to Tibetan Buddhist Tantric master Lama Thubten Yeshe:
...each one of us is a union of all universal energy. Everything that we need in order to be complete is within us right at this very moment. It is simply a matter of being able to recognize it. This is the tantric approach.
Which is also the Qabalistic/Gnostic approach.

Therefore, I dare to postulate, that to be a  Whole-Spirit manifested as a Physical Body is the Greatest Tantra ever preformed in this Universe!

The Thoth Deck TEN OF DISKS, is called the Ten of Pentacles or Ten of Coins, in other decks. However, Crowley wished to show the stable motion that is required in a "Solid" world of spinning atoms, i.e. the centrifugal force of a Spinning of a Disk. All things seem solid in the Kingdom of Malkuth because of the Stability of a Discus/Atom in its spin. I find this to be a brilliant insight (of which he had many, as only those who take risks can) and agree with his philosophy.

It is indeed the spiral "E-Motion" of our inner-conscious self that balances our "Crystalline" outer Self; our life motion is psychosomatic. Our Mental/emotional perspectives cast our body forward or backward as a disk is cast in an Olympic game. It takes dedicated practice to cast our body/disk towards it's intended life-target. In magical practice this "hitting the mark" is calledImpeccability. Such accuracy requires a soul to manifest many bodies, before it hits the mark! That mark being the expansion and liberation of Life (Tantra) .

THE TEN OF DISKS, is Qabalistically called the Lord of Wealth and is Mercury in Virgo. The Angels associated with this Decan are Hahaayah and Laviah.

Again, this is MALKUTH in ASSIAH which is the influence of Malkuth in the Material world.
The Astrologers assign Mercury the God of commerce, as the ruler of the sign Virgo. Thus this placement is often called an embarras de richesses, as material gain here is so vast, that it often loses importance.

Some Souls have gained so much  objective wealth in perspectives, that they can manifest more than one "individuality" at a time and are often called "enlightened beings". Therefore, the Tree of Life, which is a collective of many "Beings" that have happened over the Timed Creation of Self, also represents our composite Soul/Psyche: a Divine Androgyny.

As an impeccable Qabalist knows, each new manifested individual Personality is a Fractal made of past personalities, that reside as "memory" in the Soul (point of creative consciousness in the Divine Unconscious) combining these fractals of identity, produces a Collective of vast experience. Therefore, after many life-times, where the Psyche/Soul has experienced the entire Zodiac of personality construction, it can choose to make more than one "Identity Fractal" at one point in time.  This may be where the idea of "soul mates" has come from.

This vast materialism represented in the 10 of Disks, is shown as the whole Tree of Life; of Ten Sephira, as Disks decorated with the various symbols of Mercury.
Truth, being, that the Whole Tree of Life is dedicated to this Manifested world; it is the Goal Achieved by the Conscious of The Divine Dual Creative; where the I Am becomes I AM ME-the manifested and therefore sensual trinity and completion, of the Above Supernal Triangle.
Therefore, our purpose as physical Spirits and or operators of the Master Power Tools, the Human body, is to establish, the "As above, so below",i.e. "The Great Work".

As energy that is Spiral (Spirit), we are "everywhere and no where" at the very moment of "I", a kind of diffusion into the eternity of the Divine Collective Unconscious. But with a "God-Mind" body (Hu-Man) I am the ability to focus on one "moment" in the Time Space continuum, as "Myself", giving me not only the "sense of presence" but the ability to discriminate my motion! In other words----"freedom of Choice" which simply means free to move by perspective and or Self-Definition. I am a Soul, a whirlpool of conscious, in the Divine Collective Ocean of Unconscious! This Rocks! I find it very fulfilling to be able to have a "sense of presence", and move about sensually forming reality to my Self Awareness.  To be able to do so is indeed a gift, an inheritance, a Wealth, that mere Ideas, do not receive in the vast Mind of God...until now!

Therefore, it's time we realize that we are the "Sacred Place" of our Soul in the microcosm of Time/Space! We, as Spiral Entity (Spirits) have inherited the Earth, not because, as some would have us believe, we are bad or Lustful, thereby meriting the "suffering" brought on by physical senses as a punishment (The Lust of Goddess/God built us after all!). Rather, We are the accumulated Wealth of Divine Self Image-Creation--made alive and sensual in order to discern thought (the first material of creation) through sensual means within the One Mind as a "whole self identity".  The Divine Creative's Self Experience (Self Awareness) built us as a Solution- not a problem! We solve the problem of how to focus intense energy (motion) to a point in time space, to nullify entropy and be able to deconstruct and reconstruct ideas right at the time and place of "seeing/sensing an error"! We Rock Dudes and Dudesses! I Am the Image maker "ME", who can recreate image by using my "Child of God" union card, I-Magi-Nation number "10"! I AM ME is our individual name of inheritance!

For those who don't know, 10 is 1+0=1, in Qabalistic gematria (numerology) which simply means The First Sephira -that is Kether, is The Above Ocean of Vibration-Unconscious (no-thing), that we bring to The Below, the tip of the Whirlpool that is individual consciousness (I AM Something)! In other words, we don't have a goal, we are the Goal! Again, you are the "Above" manifesting in the "Below"!

Thus, we are "Lust without the Need of result"! Lust being the Divine Creative Fiery Frenzy, that is the rhythmic vibration in all things, because it becomes "all things"! Like I said, "We Rock"! We, each alone, are a Tree of Life of Ten dimension and each dimension has 10 Trees! Like I said, we are Fractals!

The B.O.T.A. Tarot-10 of Pentacles, displays the Pentacles (symbol representing Spirit, Fire, Water, Air and Earth) in the Qabalistic pattern of the Tree of Life.  Which is not new to our knowledge of self. In fact the Sumerian's had such a tree established in their spiritual doctrine.

The faithful reader of this blog, might want to review my past blog segments on the Thoth and Babylonian Tarot comparisons, to promote further understanding of this Ancient Tree of Mind.

As always, the B.O.T.A. Tarot, shows the Pentacles in earthen colors, without any other remarkable symbols. The Imagery of the  Hermetic Qabalah is best represented in the Thoth Tarot, even though Dr. Paul Foster Case, the originator of the Builders Of the Adytum, was a Hermetic Qabalist.

When thrown during a divination, the 10 of Disks/Pentacles card suggests:
  • That in ten weeks or 10 months, the opportunity for completion of material gain, but nothing beyond, will be presented to the querent.
  • There is only a caution here about becoming too "self-satisfied" where thinking that all is done and nothing more need be achieved except cleverness in monetary issues, can dull the mind into miserly dysfunctions.
  •  It behooves one to remember that Wealth is a gathering of money, and prosperity is a spreading around of wealth; a type of reseeding..  So take and give must be balance for continued mental performance.
  • The querent is assured of physical prosperity and abundance.  But being a Ten, the end of a cycle, means it may be short lived.
  •  The querent is at a physical cross roads where supply is stable but boredom has set in and is non stimulating.
  • However, the time for taking security risks is approaching and will soon arrive.
  • Attainment, accumulation, accomplishment, realization.
  • Riches and wealth, completion of material wealth.
  • Family wealth and inheritance.
  • A time of good harvest.
  • The wealthy communication between Soul and body.
Suffice it to say, that when this card is thrown, the querent is experiencing:
  • Riches and wealth.
  • A completion of material gain and fortune, but at a stalemate.
  • The wealth is not progressive and changes must be made.
  • There is old age, a certain slothfulness about this wealth that weighs heavily on the person. This can cause a dullness of mind, that is bright only in money accumulation matters.
  • This is an end of the cycle of accumulation and now a recycle must begin.
  •  Like water, wealth loses its life supporting strength when bottled up: it must flow to stay healthy.
  • Wealth becomes prosperity when invested in others. Prosperity recycles back into wealth.  Therefore the principle message in this card, is don't hoard your wealth, reinvest it and all will be well.
If Ill defined:
  • Theft and robbery.
  • Gambling.
  • Family misfortune.
  • Loss of inheritance.
  • Legal troubles after a death; or legal troubles and break up of an estate.
Thank you for your interest, comments and supportive donations. May you live long and prosper!
