Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Tarot- 2 of Wands: DOMINION & The B.O.T.A. Tarot- 2 of Wands

The Tarot of EliThe Thoth 2 Of Wands: Dominion;

represents the state of dominion, balance, and integration. We are now well into the Minor Arcana, which consists of 40 cards which show the various ways the Major Arcana (22-keys of the Trump) are experienced in day-to-day living.  The Major Arcana, Trump or Atu, are states of Universal Consciousness, and the Minor Arcana or small cards, are how the Universal expresses itself as an individual self-consciousness.
The Two of Wands shows two Dorjes (Tibetan symbols of Lightning/power). The symbol of crossed Dorjes represents, optimum balance of energy, the sense of sovereignty and being comfortable with your domain which can be called Personal Unified sacred power.

The heads adorning these Dorjes, are of the Khadro (ma) [Tibetan Angels who are the highest form of female] show that this is a polarizing force, balanced by the magnetic receptive force of female. A definite form is enlivened by this union and pure will makes this new ideal manifest.
Therefore, the symbol of the the two Dorjes (Tibetan symbols of the Thunder bolt) show balanced "male" and "female" forces. The electric force that is a masculine active flow of energy towards achievement of goals, forming into a female- magnetic domain. In this balanced state, where the  expressed will of personality and the soul are in union, there is no lust for result;  but joy in creation. Hence this card shows committed active power; a "do or die" kind of flow that will not be denied. This Spiritual Sovereignty is where the body is balanced and recognized as "another" spirit form, thereby becoming tireless in the whole flow of electric force that is not interrupted by mental prejudices.

The Thoth-2 of Wands is a tarot card representing combined Spiral (spiritual) flows of energy, therefore it represents a very powerful force of "twin spirit flames" ; as in all power, it can be ill defined. Where the 2 Dorjes cross, forms a point ( A point, in engineering, is where 2 lines cross) and/or a domain.  Hence, electric motion giving-male energy, given a form such as fortune, health, and magnificence can also be given forms of illness, poverty and mortification; for a true Spirit has dominion over self-identity. All of which it will enliven. So it is best to understand " The Law of Attraction" which is the foundation of all creation in this "electromagnetic" Universe. But above all, know that what you put willful emotion to---will be your life motion. To focus you energy (Emotion is Energy-in-Motion) on lack, misery, hate, and distrust will identify you as lack, misery, hate and distrust and in its extreme will result in violence towards others! If this card is thrown with the cards of sorrow, defeat, debauch etc... it is time to change your spiritual self- perspectives!

Great will takes great focus to change the direction of energy-in-motion, so deep focused meditations on "What you are grateful for", when done diligently, will succeed in changing the charge of powerful attraction towards forming a more positive creation.  Spirit is Sex-force in its purest form. It is the intercourse of Spirit- will and body personal conscious- will, towards achievement.  The Will-to Force and Will to Form are Spirit's Will;
Spirit is the Force of Life and the body is the Form the Life-Force is taking here. Therefore, your body is Spirit-below. Therefore, Spirit-Above and Spirit Below, flowing as one, is True Dominion.

Polarity, which is sexuality,  is achieved by the flowing union of force and form so once again I state that highly charged emotional thoughts must be focused on what you want and not on what you don't want, making  this  a positive re- birthing experience. This is also a card of self confidence and affirming a positive approval of yourself. All of which is necessary to accomplish your dominion over matter.

The horse heads on the Kha-dro-ma crowns symbolize spiritual power of the Divine Feminine and the serpents at the base of the arrow heads, represent the masculine regenerative power and the healing that comes from this power balance.

Astrologically this card represents Mars in Aries. Mars, on top of card, being the planet of vitality, energy, and assertion: Aries, on bottom of card, is the astrological symbol of exploration and pioneering.  The Angels of the Decan are Vehooel and Deneyal.
"The four Deuces symbolize the Powers of the King and Queen; first uniting and initiating the Force, but before the Prince and Princess are thoroughly brought into action. Therefore do they generally imply the initiation and fecundation of a thing" (From the Golden Dawn text).
To reiterate: the key to all systems, as well as, the Universal Pattern, is the only Reality we know as Chokmah (Wisdom) on the Tree of Life. Kether, the 1st Sephiroth, is a not or no-thing, therefore it is not reality. When we cause reality, it is of our  self- beliefs and opinions united, so I often call Chokmah the Real...for it is not of us, but is the will to force before us.  Our beginning is in Chokmah, the idea of I Am (existence), and the Will to Force, all begin there. Thus we are Dreaming ourselves into willful existence.

By looking at the illustration of theQabalistic Tree of Life,  you may understand that Chokma  (Wisdom) is the #2 Sephiroth on the Tree of life. You may also understand that Chokma is attributed to Male force (I), even though "he" has the potential to radiate the "pure  female", as will to force is an unbroken flow to Binah (AM) who is the 3rd Sephiroth (understanding) and is will to form. Hence, I AM has the potential that creates all life-forms. These two Sephiroth are the "I AM".  To understand there is no more a division of male-female than there is in time-space, and I AM, will greatly heed your understanding of your self!

From the ordinary point of view, Chokma is really #1 rather than #2, because he is the first manifestation; Kether (Crown) is completely sealed, unseen, because limitless light, is unseen. Nobody knows anything about it at all, even the Quantum Physicists that call Kether, Dark Energy, know nothing about dark energy except that "something" is pushing the galaxies.
Therefore, the Hermetic Qabalah teaches that only upon reaching the 2, does an element appear as itself. Since, Chokma is completely uncontaminated by influence; the elements appear here in their original harmonious condition. Hence, the 2 of Wands, is the appearance of "Fire", which represents Spirit, in the universe.
The Two of Wands:
Is also called the Lord of Dominion which represents the element of Fire in its highest Form (First manifestation of Spirit as a"pure motion") before movement was established "as alive". What may interest you is that the word Lord, is Anglo-Saxon and means "Guardian of Bread" and the Anglo Saxon word Lady, means, "Doler of Bread". Remembering that the Anglo-Saxons where a matriarchal/ agricultural society and that all "property"(Form) belonged to Woman and the protection of all property belonged to the Male. Hence,  the word Husband an Anglo Saxon word meaning "keeper of her property" and or the Domain or realm, is another way to say "Lord of Dominion". Again we have a Hermetic Marriage, Husband and Wife, is a misunderstanding, rather, Wife-Husband, is the showing of Wisdom! There is flow established in the 2; from I to "the other" I (Am)= 2.
The Two of Wands represents Chokmah influencing the World of Pure Spirit known as Atziluth.
Again we are trying to explain the inexpiable which is the Supernal Triangle. This second Sephiroth which rules the 2's of Tarot, is Pure will, without need of result. Which to many is impossible to realize, for most of us exercise will to reach goals. We don't realize that will is the Power behind Spirit, the Spiraling of Energy into motions that build microwave dimensions of I AM created self-identities. But before frequencies are stimulated into being, there was Will to Force ( Chokmah-the Divine masculine) and then Will to Form (Binah-The Divine Feminine). The Sephiroth are called Beings  that may be Force or may be form, but in fact, a Being to a Qabalist is a "immortal state of Conscious Energy" while we may all know that the living forms we are used to, have a beginning and an end, a Being is "point in time", and therefore it has not depth and its dimension is infinite Pi.  In Chokmah is Being. The First Being---The All Father Electric who has no form until She the Magnetic- the third Sephira-Binah "wills him to Form".  Here in the Two of Wands is that joining of the Two states of  Will That is "He" and "She", Will to Force and Will to Form, both being creative in this state as both are "expressing will".

The 2 of Wands represents, energy in an unbridled state of Force, for Mars is exalted in Aries as the fiery Mars rules the fiery sign Aries. Here Fire, i.e. Spirit, is pure Primal, and brilliant, warm and bright as both Will to Force and Will to Form. The Dorjes, Tibetan symbols for Thunderbolts, are shown crossed on this card, emphasizing the power and harmony of this card. Will to Force and Will to From are in balance here, the forceful Dominion of Spirit has become a domain, i.e expression into objective form as "Psyche". Hence, the Union in itself is the result. Therefore  there is no "battle of the sexes" where one wishes to rule the relationship over the other.  There is the Union of Wisdom (Chokmah-I) and Understanding (Binah-Am), that gives birth to Knowledge and all creation...a "Me". Here, Energy is initiating a current of wisdom and understanding; that Spiral of Energy/Psyche from which all domain is created.

When the word Harmony is mentioned, one often thinks of peace and quiet bliss, but this is the Violent- Creative-Destructive- Harmonious-Symphonic Force that initiated the "Big Bang"; totally without resistance in and of itself but none the less destructive in order to reconstruct, for it is "as fire", both consumptive and trans-formative. A Rhythmic intercourse in the Substance of Mind, which we call Spirit.  Hence,  a Singularity compose of 2, exploded  "outward" to form the building blocks of our Universe and disturbed the peace, balance and bliss of absolute stability, so that "change can become a constant"; the One Energy can now Transform according to SELF Identity. For all Self is a duality of "force and form".  Here Mars in Aries represents that Powerful Gathering of Force to deconstruction of- "I" for the purpose reconstruction as- " I Am". A gathering of Will to Force and Will to Form and or the beginning of Trans-formative Energy, which we know to be the first law of Thermodynamics is in motion [....there is only one energy that cannot be created nor destroyed, only transformed...and transmitted].  One is now in energy in motion, which requires I  transforming to AM, a dual identity of I and Another way to be "I" and/or AM. This wisdom and understanding of Self, produce an objective concept called a "Me" which is both a Macrocosmic and microcosmic identity.
Crowley called the 2 of Wands card "..
.will unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is every-way perfect"
. [Al. I.44].
The power of Mars in its own sign as Aries, is shown as the back ground to this card. The crossed Djores (Tibetan Thunderbolts) represent a celestial feminine magnetic power while the arrow heads, are the male/phallic/electric force. The union causing a balance to initiate a current of Force and Form. Since initiation of Force is often at first destructive to the object it is focused on, this card is at first destructive to comfort zones and is often viewed with reactive fear and repulsion to the assault. This later changes when the greater plan is understood  and the individual mind willingly co-operates and begins psychosomatic operation.

As stated,The Heads of the Djores, are Tibetan Khadro-Ma which are considered Angels or Demons, depending if you are frightened of the Initiating Force or joyously accepting the necessary destructive/constructive nature of this Current of Force.  Studying the Tibetan concept of the Khadro-Ma gives even greater insight into this Cards Force; However, the Tibetans are very secretive about the Khadro and will only state adamantly that they are the "highest state of Feminine" in the Universe and compose about 10,000 Myriads in number. However, the Tibetan Khadro-ma is similar to the Hindu concept of Dakini, meaning "Sky Walker". A Dakini was considered a  goddess of the after world and also a Tantric Priestess who was considered an emanation of Kali, and therefore often overseeing funerary rites. Similar to Aphrodite's Horae or the sacred harlots of Ishtar the Khadroma and Dakini seem to be an apotheosized form of an earthly Goddess woman.

The famous, Red Dakini, was intimately connected to Tantric initiation tradition. For realization of her spirit was considered essential to the enlightenment of a yogi. As a death goddess, she would be encountered in the after-world/other-side of the Abyss. This is probably where A.Crowley got his idea of the Scarlett Woman, and/or Babylon, as he was a practicing Tantric.
Therefore, the Khadroma images on the Thoth Tarot Card, are red, of fire and can be considered images of the Red Dakini.

Therefore when this card is thrown, it represents you coming into your own power from your deep spiritual center that is a balance of Male electric (the rods-consciousness) and female magnetic (The Khadroma-Tibetan angels- heads on the Dorjes-unconsciousness) where one rules both the life and death
of their creations, i.e. Dominion over force and form/ matter.

The B.O.T.A.- 2 of Wands, is as unimaginable as most of the Builders of the Adytum small cards. The 2 wands are suspended in space, in an harmonious balance. The red and gold of the wands denote the element of fire. The Diamond of Kether tops the wands, while the coal dark form of carbon, denotes earth.
Once again, one must subscribe to the correspondence course on the B.O.T.A.  Tarot, offered by the lodge, to gather their meaning of the 2 of Wands.
However, Dr. Paul Foster Case, the founder, was a Hermetic Qabalist, so the Thoth Tarot meanings apply.

When thrown in a reading, the 2 of Wands is
 considered  to be:
  • influence over another.
  •  Dominion, boldness, courage, fierceness, shamelessness, revenge, resolution, generous, proud, sensitive, ambitious.
  • Restless, ruthless, turbulent, and many other descriptions of a Willful  Current of Force being applied to a situation.
  • This card tends to be sagacious yet can be unforgiving and obstinate according to dignity.
  • The Two of Wands is Focused Will and Fiery Motion, in a balance that will destroy the issue focused on to rebuild a new form.
  • Very powerful card of Motion and change by a destructive means, which is often seen in the world of Atoms and molecules forged by the massive forces of the Stars. When this card shows up in a reading the Will of Spirit is involved.
  • The querent is experiencing the will to move forward in a new direction. From a place of undaunted will, of full power, and balanced dominion.
  • Contemplating new ideas without lust of result.
  • What once was unfocused energy is now becoming clear and polarized.
  • Affirming a new self identity.
  • A partnership of two powers, opposite yet reflecting each other.
  • The Self confidence that only comes from affirming and approving of one's self.
  • A senses of accomplishment without any feeling of satisfaction.

  • In the next two weeks, or two months, you will have the energy, like Mars, to move in new directions: like Aries, from a place of integration, balance, harmony and spiritual power.
  • You have attained a certain amount of integral balance, harmony and dominion within, that enables you to expand and liberate your life from past imbalances.
  • Illumination.
