Tarot Card Comparisons: Thoth Tarot-Key 19- The Sun & The Witches Tarot-Key 19- The Sun

The Tarot of EliThe Thoth Tarot-Key 20- The Sun & The Witches Tarot-Key 19-The Sun:

The Witches Tarot Key 19, shows the Sun as a Power of the Materialistic world, less occult than the Thoth Deck, and more about Fire, Sun and Summer solstice as shown by the Golden Sun rising above the Golden Son of Spirit which many of us know as the "Christ or Buddha consciousness". This is a card depicting summer, and the young boy is the embodiment of joy, excitement, and enthusiasm. The White Horse, is a constant mythological symbol associated with the fey-magic, life (Carl Jung), light, spirit and illumination.
The big- healthy, Sun flowers are at the height of the growing season and in the language of flowers, represent, fame, success and esteem. Here, our Spirit radiates its internal warmth deep within our being.

The Key 19-The Sun represents Tiphareth the 6th Sephiroth on the Qabalistic Tree of life; the Solar Logos, where the individual Soul is cleansed of errant definition, reaching its peak of impeccablity as the Christ or Buddha conscious.

THE THOTH TAROT- KEY 19-THE SUN:
The Sun is the Path of Resh on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Resh, meaning- Head, is often called the Collecting Intelligence. and connects Hod-Splendor with Yesod-Foundation  and is the first path of the Personality triad to arise on the Tree of Life.  Intellectually formative, it is the activating force of the Personality, which like the Higher Self and the Supreme Spiritual Self, is composed of the intuitive dynamic Yod (Male electric force) and  a intellectual-formative Heh, or feminine magnetic. Their union creating a set of opposing force interactions of the two in equilibrium which is the Vau, giving us the Yod{Hermit) Heh {Emperor) Vau {Hierophant).

We see this balanced- opposing force interactions, in the card as the Active or Dancing Twins underneath the 12 rays of the Sun representing the signs of the zodiac. Astrologically, the signs are the 12 sign posts of personality formation and reception of planetary influences that govern the birth and life course of each incarnation. Thus the Sun is seen as the Collective Intelligence as it not only links the planets, but also the newly incarnated to the personalities of past incarnations, of which the Soul collects in its Akashic records and/or "library of experience".

The Path of Resh, The Sun, represents the highest form of human intellectual achievement.  Basically the Sun represents the Solar intellect (Bright and Warm). Here the Soul/Psyche, "The Golden Child" is acting upon the dualities of the human mental condition, self-consciousness and its earthly vehicle of survival consciousness. The Path of Resh, basically connects the human intellect with the intellect of the Greater Self and/or Higher Self. Therefore, the Sun represents Heru-ra-ha  (Horus), the Lord of the New Aeon; he is the Sun/Son spiritual, moral and physical. Lord of Light, Life, Liberty and Love.
Hence, this key, represents the complete emancipation of the human race.
Here also, is depicted the signs of the zodiac, with Aries rising in the east and the zodiac is a kind of childish representation of the body of Nuit as a girdle of Our Lady of infinite space.

The green mound is the fertile earth, crowned with a wall declaring that there is still some controlling factors in the New Aeon, as some morality is still required. Yet the male and female images of the  "Dancing Twins" represent innocence and shamelessness and the one moral, the morality of equality:  "Do unto another as you would have done to you." This One Moral, keeps us all dancing in rhythm and synchronicity.

The medallions at their feet depict the sacred signs of the Old Aeon, the Rose and the Cross, from which they have arisen, yet it still supports them. Also the symbol of the Rose is central to the Sun, which is the expansion of the Cross, which is no longer limited to the number 4, the limit of mundane law, and is now shown as the 12 rays of the Sun which is the numerical value of 12  in Qabalistic gematria is called  HUA ("heh"), the Most Holy Ones. Please refer to the Book of Thoth by Crowley for more in-depth information. This is a very powerful Qabalistic Path of initiation, usually symbolized as a halo on the head of the adept, so please refer to the blogs and read the book, Qabalistic Tarot by Robert Wang if you wish deeper insight. This one requires us to really clean "out the closet" of past  emotions that no longer fit our intellect.

WHEN THE KEY 19, THE SUN, IS THROWN DURING A DIVINATION:
It implies:

  • Satisfaction and achievement.
  • Material happiness and joy.
  • Sincerity and warmth.
  • Good friendship.
  • Consciousness of Spirit'
  • Collaboration, teamwork, and partnership.
  • Beginning a new life cycle;
  • Ready to achieve on the inner planes, the warmth and brightness of the Sun.
  • The truest Love of the Divine marriage.
  • Wholeness, achievement and revelation. Unity of Spirit.
  • Experiencing a good day, week or year of expansiveness and pleasure.
  • Consciousness rising to higher levels of thought.
  • Seeing the Light. Dispelling illusion and revealing the reality of things.
  • Optimism and good cheer

If Ill defined or reversed:
  • The reversal of the above.
  • Clouds on the horizon.
  • Success delayed.
  • Lacking friendship.
  • A warning of fire.
  • Loneliness and unhappiness.
Note: The Sun card generally imparts a radiance and warmth to the reading, and only very negative cards surrounding it in a reading will ill define it.  Usually, the Sun burns away the cloudy meanings of the accompanying cards.
