The Thoth Tarot- Prince of Disks & The Witches Tarot- Knight of Pentacles:
Those who have been following my blog may understand that there are
no Princes in the Traditional Tarot Art, such as the Witches Tarot. The Knights are the Princes in
this deck, To further confuse you, the Kings of the Thoth deck are
called Knights, and the Knights of the Withces Tarot are
comparable to the Princes of the Thoth Deck, as the traditional tarot decks already have Kings.
Crowley reordered the Thoth Tarot Deck To better emphasize his philosophy. So we have:
Kings of the Witches tarot as Knights in the Thoth Tarot; as the Knights of Thoth are considered Battle Kings.
The Witches Tarot- Knight of Pentacles,
posses an golden pentacle.
His is dressed polished full armor and dressed in a green tabard that imitates the greens of the earth
element that rules this card. The trim, bridle and reigns all bear a green leaf motif, again alluding to the earth element.
weapons hidden from view, this knight is at rest, with visor up and observing the surrounding country side. He seems more interested in nature and science than looking for a fight. His continence suggests that he is
most capable as a fighter but shows little interest in it, yet there is mystery here.
For,The Knight of Pentacles, is the traditional image of the Green Man of Arthurian legends. As the Green Knight, who represents the Goddess, he does not actively seek out battles, but he is still ready for them. The traditional image of harmony and peace is the heraldry stag symbol that is seen on his horse's emerald green parade cloak. This means he will not start a battle, but will fight if provoked.
With golden sky, and lush green pastures, complete with a natural stag, the element of earth is well represented. In nature, the symbol of the Stag represents, pride, poise and integrity; all qualities of the Knight of Pentacles.
primary meaning of this Knight of Pentacles seem to be that of a
capable person, who is highly trained in their field of endeavor. A
dependable, down to earth diligent and practical person of active observation, stamina and patient responsibility.
In past blogs
, I have stated that Tiphareth is The Central
Sun/Son of our conscious energy expression into incarnation. Tiphareth is
called -Beauty, and is as high as our Personal Conscious can go up the
Tree. This state of self-consciousness is known in the Mysteries, as the
Christ, or Buddha consciousness and it brings the body into a "higher"
state of vibratory life force; a force that we know as "unconditional Love"
changing the physiology by doing so. However, only through diligent
meditative techniques and ritual divination is this conscious state
possible to physically experience.
THE PRINCE OF DISK (Knight of Pentacles):
called the Knight of Pentacles, in other Tarot Decks), is the Prince of
the Chariot of Earth. Prince and Emperor of the Gnomes and is
attributed to the last Decan of Aries and the first two Decan of Taurus.
Prince is the Air of Earth and/ or Specific Air of Primal Earth. The
Chariot of the Prince of Disks is pulled by the Bull of Taurus,
demonstrating this earthly attribute.
Being Air of Earth, the Prince is
Intelligible Earth, as Air is Mind. Thus he brings incredible energy to
physical matters. Such intelligent Earth, is the instinctual mind that
shows its incredible focus on building, as in bees, ants, etc.
the Prince of Disks is so active, his armor is light and nonrestrictive.
On his head is the Bull helmet an animal sacred to the earth. The disk
in his hand is an orb resembling a globe, marked in agricultural
mathematical symbols. The orb-scepter, that is surmounted by a cross,
is a symbol of the Great Work accomplished. The Great Work
being manifesting the Higher States of Conscious Energy, in the lower
states of consciousness below, on earth; by physical focus and attention
What many of us don't understand is that if you empty your brain
of random thoughts, while only focusing on the task at hand, you are
meditating! Even a daily commute in your car, with radio off, and doing and thinking
nothing but "hands on the wheel" driving, while paying absolute
attention to traffic, is a meditation! The Prince of Disks intelligence
knows that mufti-tasking, is just another way to do nothing well.
As is the Knight of Pentacles, The Prince of Disks, is the Green Man force of Celtic mysteries, whose
job it is to bring forth, from the Earthly element, that vegetation,
which is the sustenance of Spirit itself. The Mother Earth makes the
form, he enlivens it and enforces the design.
Character of the Prince of Disks, is methodical, competent, ingenious,
enduring, trustworthy, cautious, and imperturbable. All the qualities of
a very capable manger and a steadfast preserving worker. Very good at
horticulture and hard-patient work.
This Prince of Mind
and Earth, is ingenious as he constantly seeks new ways of using common
things. Always adapting the circumstance to his slow and methodical
purpose. This is to say, that his plans are well thought out. His
emotions are subdued, thus he may appear insensitive and maybe even dull
and slow of wit. But this is because of misinterpretation of his mental
activity of which he won't devote to ideas that he understands to be
beyond his expertise. Simply, the reaction of others to this stalwart
character, depends entirely on their temperament and not his.
When the Prince of Disks or the Knight of Pentacles is thrown during a reading,( depending on the position and the surrounding cards),
issues of physical activity. Such as, body building, muscle
tone, sports, and a steel like resolve to move through issues and remove
- The querent is in a kind of Moving meditation, a focus
on the material world, experiencing personal balance and productivity.
- Becoming or is a builder who works steady towards their goals and being
singularly focused on establishing security.
- The querent, is both
kind and trustworthy and will complete a long and laborious task, "come
hell or high water".
- There is suggested a Mastery here, of change
and harvest procured by knowledge and productivity.
This is a hard card to make negative, the only thought being, that of slowness, and seemingly dull witted.
