The Thoth- 6 of Cups -Pleasure, is one of the highest cup cards in the Thoth Tarot deck and is about the perfect pleasure of spiritual ecstasy that one feels when the Soul and body union is complete.
The approach to this deep inner sun is more subtle in the Witches Tarot
The Witches Tarot-Six of Cups, illustrates a young couple, dressed in the colors of the element water. They are playing around a well pump and shallow stream, while sitting on green grass and clover. All of which emphasizes the water element of this card.
Both are very young, with glowing blonde hair, which illustrates the Sun's connection to this card.
Their play is innocent and magical. For children are closer to the soul than most adults and magic is natural and a not forgotten part of imagination.
The Silver moon cups, are being filled with Sweet Williams that represent in the language of flowers, sweet memories and childhood.
The primary message of the Six of Cauldrons, seems to be about an innocent and undemanding love.
THOTH Tarot- 6 OF CUPS-PLEASURE.
From the Sepher Yetzirah ( 13 th century Qabalalistic text) and the Thirty Two Paths of Wisdom:
In Kether is the Radix of a Golden Glory and thence is there a pure, primitive and sparkling, gleaming golden yellow which is reflected into Tiphareth. This is the first reflected Triad complete. And the sphere of its operation is that of Shemesh, the Solar Light, and bestoweth Life, Light and Brilliancy in metallic matter, and it rideth the sphere of action and of the Sun. And YHVH
Eloah va-Daath is a God of Knowledge and Wisdom, ruling over the Light of the Universe; and its Archangel is Raphael, the Prince of Brightness, Beauty and Life. And the Name of the Order of Angels is Melechim, that is Kings or Angelic Kings, who are also called the Order of Virtues, Angels and Rulers.
THE THOTH- 6 OF CUPS-PLEASURE:
Is representative of the Lord of Pleasure. Here the Sun is in Scorpio. The Angels of the Decan are Nelokhiel and Yeyayel.
The influence of the Solar Logos-Tiphareth, in the Mental World known to Qabalist as Briah.
Already we know that Tiphareth in Atziluth (Beauty in Pure Spirit) means Victory after effort, shown as the Thoth 6 of Wands. Now we see the Six of Cups as Tiphareth in the Watery World of Briah, (Mental World) as the beginnings of Pleasure.
Noted to be a sign of discrimination, magnetism and hidden qualities, Scorpio, in the 6 of Cups, is like activated Water by Solar influx. Here, Scorpio revels in the Sun, and is likened to a Fertile, warm, fruitful Sea--a Spa of Life generating qualities.
For example, having a Sun in Scorpio, and a Scorpio Natal, and a Cancerian Moon, my inner self is a bright pleasure to my Watery World of deep and powerful emotion. Bacchus revels in my halls of hearth and heart I live this card, in a daily Glow of Bright Pleasure...thus I have no need to seek it-----I am it! And pleasure is a state of daily being and I can find no greater foundation than pleasure to build the temple of self on.
Of course, Scorpio may sting where the Will directs; However, when the Will resides in Beauty-Tiphareth, Love is the Willful view of life and the scorpion's sting is reserved for those who would demean life with vial actions. What may not be known to some, is that Scorpio has three symbols that represent this mystical sign. Not only the lowly, ground bound scorpion, but also the Serpent, representing sexuality and the free flying eagle, the sign's higher mind. So as the Sun activates the Forces of Scorpio, gain or pleasure commences and one "flies high". Implied, without assurance, is that pleasure and gain will build, as shown by the partially filled cups.
Pleasure, being the natural title of this card, may seem mundane in meaning. That is not the case with this card as it does not represent the mundane pleasures of the pain fleeing populace, but of the highest energy sense; implying well-being, harmony of natural forces without effort or strain but with ease and satisfaction. Yet it also does emphatically represent the fulfillment of Sexual Will, as shown by the ruling Sephira, Tiphareth-Beauty, and sign of Scorpio whose Planet is Sun, and of the element of Water. However, this sexual action is also a personal communion of fertile forces, through all the body chakras, that makes all life possible.
